QUADRANGLE 74
Submissions for Q74 "Life in Motion" will close Wednesday, December 31st at 11:59 p.m.
THIS IS AN UNDERGRADUATE MAGAZINE OPEN TO THE CANISIUS UNIVERSITY COMMUNITY ONLY.
Please read the Submission instructions below carefully before submitting any work.
ATTENTION: Quadrangle exists to represent the Canisius University creative community. We cannot accept submissions from those who are not Canisius University students, alumni, or faculty. If you are an artist outside of these bounds, we ask that you please refrain from sharing your work with us, as we are limited in the number of submissions we can receive on the Submittable platform. We wish you the best of luck in your endeavors.
WHAT WE TAKE: We accept anything you can put on paper. Send us your candid art: poetry, paintings, collages, short fiction, non-fiction, editorials. Submit your flash fiction, plays, photographs, digital artwork, drawings, printings, and visual creations, traditional and experimental. Submissions are accepted from any student, alumnus, or faculty member of Canisius University.
This year's theme: "Life in Motion"
We welcome submissions that touch on any subject matter, but this year we are especially interested in pieces that deal with the idea of life in motion. Just as life is always in motion, narrating and adapting to the past and shaping the future, our art often reflects this mosaic of motion. A photograph of a galloping horse focuses on a particular moment, but the blur of color in the background is still there.
Think about what it means for life to be a narrative, to be composed of both core memories and fleeting moments that blend together to make something beautiful. You might consider focusing on smaller, quick moments of life, or think about life like a photographer capturing a vivid moment. It might be helpful to think about a story in terms of “in media res” — starting the story “in the middle of things,” in the middle of the action, at a key moment in the narrative.
Whether you choose to write about life in motion or explore ideas outside this year’s theme, we are so excited to see and read your work!

How to submit efficiently
